Sleeping HRV Trends for SleepWatch App
The team at SleepWatch is pleased to announce the addition of Sleeping HRV to the "Trends" tab in SleepWatch app. This feature is available free to all users that use an Apple Watch to track their sleep.
Heart Rate Variability (HRV) is a measurement of the variation in time between successive heartbeats measured in milliseconds (ms). The time between successive heartbeats is also called inter-beat intervals. HRV is controlled by a part of the nervous system called the autonomic nervous system (ANS.) The ANS reacts to environmental stimulus—both positive and negative—such as having a bad day, lack of sleep, getting good news, etc. and is responsible for our “fight-or-flight” and “relaxation” responses.
HRV—which is not the same measure as heart rate—may reveal unique attributes about your sleep quality and well-being. Learn more about Heart Rate Variability here
Viewing Your Average Sleeping HRV Trends
To view your Average Sleeping HRV trends open the "Trends" tab on the smartphone app and choose "Sleeping HRV" from the dropdown menu.
From within the "Sleeping HRV" trends menu, you can navigate between Daily, Weekly, and Monthly trends. Health research suggests that higher levels of heart rate variability during sleep are associated with more youthful physiology [2, 3], better sleep quality, and less mental stress. Monitor your trends over time to see how changes in your lifestyle impact your Sleeping HRV results for the better.
Go Premium for an Enhanced Experience
Enjoy deeper insight at-a-glance with SleepWatch Premium. With Premium, your Sleeping HRV trends are colored based on how high or low your result is compared to your age group. Sleeping HRV decreases with age, so comparing your Sleeping HRV to others in your age group may indicate whether your internal biology is aging slower or faster than your age-matched peers. Knowing how your internal biology may be fairing today can help you make smarter lifestyle choices sooner rather than later.
With SleepWatch Premium, you can also see how much higher or lower your Sleeping HRV is compared to other users in your age group and compared to other users most like you. If you are not a Premium member yet, consider upgrading your account today to unlock these benefits.
